The Big Orange Meal Plan Scholarship was created to support students experiencing financial hardship and food insecurity. The meal plan scholarship provides support for the fall and spring semester. Applications are reviewed the semester prior (i.e. fall applications are reviewed in the spring).
Applications are closed until Spring 2023. If you applied for 2022-23 you will be hearing updates early June.
Applications are reviewed for need and in partnership with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Students currently receiving financial aid, should be aware that receiving funding from the BOMPS may affect their current aid-year financial aid packages. For information on the impact to financial aid, please contact at One Stop (865) 974-1111. For more information about cost of attendance, please visit Estimated Undergraduate Student Budget or Estimated Graduate Student Budget.
Because of limited resources, we ask that students only apply and receive the scholarship once per your college career. If students need help identifying other financial aid options, we encourage them to contact One Stop at (865) 974-1111.
Each student who receives the scholarship will be encouraged to meet with a representative from the Center for Financial Wellness. If approved for scholarship, more information will be included in the award letter. Recipients may be asked to share their experience and the impact of the fund.
We understand that there are needs that extend beyond the meal plan scholarship criteria. We encourage students to reach out to OneStop at (865) 974-1111.
This depends on the support needed. The Office of the Dean of Students can be reached at 865.974.3179 for general inquiries. We also encourage all students to contact 974-HELP (24/7) if they are in distress.
